CrayfishMag is excited for ISSUE NUMBER THREE.

The response to our first issues has been beautiful and humbling. The quality of work has astounded us. We are excited to begin again.

CrayfishMag’s vision stems from place. We’re of the rust and rich soil of the Midwest. And, we’re eager to know how the places you spend your time shape how you see the world — how they harm and/or heal you. We are excited to be surprised by your work, to be awakened to new ways of seeing and knowing. We are open to themes, ideas, and identities we didn’t know we need to spend time with.

Our current submission window closes on February 14th. We would like to reply to all submitters by the end of May.

CrayfishMag values accessibility and welcomes submissions from writers and artists at every stage of their development. For the same reason, there is no fee to submit to our magazine. We hope to keep it that way.

Submission Guidelines:

Poetry: Send us up to five poems in one document. We’re interested in prose poetry, formal poetry, hybrid work, and everything in between.

Prose: Submit one piece of prose per submission, fiction or creative nonfiction, no longer than 5,000 words.

Visual Art: We’re interested in all kinds of art and design, including photography, painting, collage, comics, and more. Please send us up to five images. If you have work that you see as a series, send us up to ten. Use the highest resolution you can so that we can evaluate your work fairly.

Other: Some of the best submissions don’t fit into categories. If that’s where you work, this box is for you. If it can live on the web, we’d love to give it our attention.

Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please let us know if it’s accepted elsewhere. We cannot publish previously published work. Also, this is a space for humans. While we know AI can be helpful, we are not interested in AI-generated pieces.

Questions about our submission process and guidelines should be sent to editors@crayfishmag.com.
